Hello friends!
I recently had the pleasure of Partnering with Death Wish Coffee Company to create a sponsored blog post and review of their Blue and Buried coffee blend they gifted me. I am super excited to share the fun drinks that I made with it for this spring season. First off, I need to let you know this post contains an affiliate link which means if you purchase after clicking the link, I may receive compensation. With that said, let's get to it! I was so curious what the Blue and Buried blend coffee would taste like. I am pleased to say that it is really delicious and surprisingly cozy, yet also very fresh. After experimenting with it in a few different ways I think it is such a great flavor to get into a spring mood. Spring is the perfect season for both hot drinks and cold drinks. I often find myself in the mood for a nice cozy warm drink in the morning and a refreshing pick me up in the afternoon. I found this blend to be great for both! The flavor is great and the strength is definitely there.

The first drink that I made with this blend was a blueberry vanilla cafe au lait. A cafe au lait is basically equal parts drip coffee and steamed milk. For this recipe I started out by making a pot of drip coffee. Then I steamed the whole milk to 160 degrees fahrenheit. I like my coffee “burn your mouth” hot. You may want to steam yours to 140 instead.

I added a tiny bit of honey into my cup and filled the cup halfway with the freshly brewed drip coffee. I then mixed the honey into the drip coffee. The next step is to fill the cup the rest of the way up with the steamed milk and enjoy! I think out of the three drinks I made this one was my favorite. The blueberry vanilla coffee blended with the steamed milk and honey felt akin to eating a freshly baked blueberry muffin next to a cozy fireplace.

The next way that I tried the blue and buried blend is a good ole cup of french press coffee. To make this all you need is a french press and coarse blend coffee. I found that This blend was coarse enough. I also used a scale to weigh my portions of coffee and hot water. I used a 1:12 coffee to water ratio. So this simply means one part coffee to every 12 parts water. I'm not going to go into detail on using a French Press, but you can find lots of great tutorials out there really easily. I enjoyed this cup black and it was great.

The last way that I made this coffee was iced with vanilla cold foam. I saved some of my drip coffee and refrigerated it, but ideally I would make a cold brew. Cold brew is more caffeinated and the flavor is really nice for iced coffee. I only made it this way because I have been cutting my caffeine back a bit and I had already had plenty of coffee that day. For this drink, I filled my cup a bit over half way with the blueberry vanilla drip coffee I had refrigerated (which you could make cold brew with the blue and buried coffee and sub that instead) .

I then poured about a teaspoon of vanilla syrup and some heavy cream in a pitcher/cup and whipped it a bit with a hand frother until I got the desired consistency. This method does create cold foam that is really creamy and a bit heavy. I personally like it that way, but if you wanted it to be lighter you could use a recipe that uses heavy cream and 2% milk. A fun thing I did to take this drink up a notch is making coffee ice cubes. This is super easy, just pour some of your leftover drip coffee in an ice tray, pop in the freezer and use as needed to make your iced coffee beverages. Next, I added the frozen coffee cubes to the cold black drip coffee and poured the cold foam over the top of that. Voila! Finished. I really enjoyed the coffee this way too. This drink felt like a really great afternoon pick me up. Perfect to enjoy in the warmer parts of the spring days.

In conclusion, the Deathwish Blue and buried blend was great all the ways that I tried it. The flavor is strong and full. I found it to be really versatile and loved experimenting with it. My husband also tried it and has gotten hooked on it. He really loved it and he usually doesn't go for flavored coffee, so that is definitely saying something as well! We have already finished most of the bag... ;)
Until next time!
